The Scouting Outdoor program has at least these three goals:
a) goal-oriented outdoor activities that help the boys to become young men, by challenges
that require them to be resourceful, independent, brave, and team-focused
b) encourage and provide opportunities for all boys to exercise effective team leadership and find their leadership style
c) to instill in each boy a love for the natural world, and the plants and animals that live there.
Leadership, confidence, and natural world appreciation are easier to achieve for a boy when the distractions of technological civilization are minimized. The following items only detract from the experience.
We first ask the boys not to bring these items on our outdoor trips. The Scouting activities normally keep the boys occupied and challenged the whole time. Use of these items means the boys are not achieving the most benefit and challenges of Scouting. If their use becomes a problem, the adult leader may confiscate them for the duration of the trip.
* During transportation to and from the designated activity location, the above items may be allowed at the discretion of the adult driver.
The following items are prohibited on ALL Scouting activities. Scouts found with any prohibited item will be sent home, and their parents will be notified.
