*** THERE WILL BE NO TROOP MEETING ON 25 JUNE ***
Many of our Scouts and Leaders are at Circle-X Scout Summer Camp, at Forest Lawn Scout Reservation, near Lake Arrowhead. I hope they are all having a good time. I was there Sunday, and the weather was very nice: cool, sunny, with deep blue skies.
• Good luck to our Rae Lakes Loop backpackers. Make sure you put all your food and smellables in the bear containers every night, or the bears will tear apart your packs. The Rae Lakes basin below Glen Pass is one of the prettiest sites in the Sierras. From Glen Pass, I think you can see all the way north to the Palisades. And watch out for those pesky skeeters.
*** THERE WILL BE NO TROOP MEETING ON 4 JUNE ***
St. Lawrence is having a graduation ceremony.
• For the months of June and July, we try to hold our Scout meeting outdoors, down at the St. Lawrence ball field. Watch this space for special announcements each week if we have parent meetings in the hall, and the Scouts at the field.

Please see if you can spend a few hours on this worthy project. Check his equipment list to see if you can help with tools and supplies.
• There will not be a Scout Meeting on Thursday, 9 April; it's Holy Thursday for our Charter organization, Saint Lawrence Martyr, part of their Holy Week observance. May we all give thanks for the blessings that have been bestowed upon us.
• Many of our new Scouts took their first backpack to La Jolla Valley in Pt. Mugu State Park this past weekend. They were ably led by David S. and Chris S. They were serenaded by coyotes, and the ticks and mosquitoes in the meadows tried to welcome them in their own special way. We cooked our first-ever backpack Dutch Oven meal: turkey stroganoff, and there weren't any leftovers. (Thanks to Scoutmaster Fleming for lugging the darn thing.)
• Many of our older Scouts, including the Double H hikers, are in Death Valley this week, training for their week-long summer backpack. Weather is forecast for warm days, pleasant evenings. Carry lots of water and sunscreen, guys.
